James Webb Space Telescope shows unseen parts of space

The world’s most powerful eye – NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope – revealed the first images from deep space. The mission is to unfold the infrared universe. The discoveries thus far have been monumental. NASA has hailed it the dawn of a new era in astronomy.

Dubbed Cosmic Cliffs for it’s craggy mountain look, this is the edge if a massive gas cavity. The tallest peaks shown here are 7 light years high.

This star-forming region is called NGC 3324 in the Carina Nebula.

Stephan’s Quintet is a visual grouping of five galaxies. Millions of young stars are visible. This huge mosaic is Webb’s largest image to date.

Stephan’s Quintet.

Southern Ring Nebula has been emitting rings of gas and dust for thousands of years. The telescope uncovered that this star is cloaked in dust.

This side-by-side comparison shows observations of the Southern Ring Nebula in near-infrared light.

This galaxy cluster SMACS 0723 is the deepest and sharpest image to date. Thousands of galaxies are visible here.
