Cost-effective Cape Town: 7 treasures to unearth

Turns out Cape Town can be cost-effective if you choose the right places and map out a fun day in most suburbs in the Mother City.

Simon’s Town is one such area – steeped in history and coloured in every shade of blue the sea and sky can provide. It is a small Naval town of many mysteries – most of which you can easily uncover with a walk through the main street and conversations with the locals. There’s also the fierce debate of where to find the best fish and chips.

Kalk Bay was recently named one of the ‘Coolest Neighbourhoods’ in the world – and there’s no question why. With friendly faces at every stop and some of the most authentic Cape Town shops to stroll through – it is a hive of culture and oozes coolness. Tidal pools and lounging in the sun is a favourite past time, best of all it’s free!

Last stop along the pocket-friendly route is Muizenberg – a surfer’s paradise and tourist haven. Grab an ice cream at one of the shops nearby and stroll along the walkway – you can’t help but be taken in with all Cape Town has to offer.
